Well, I walked a mile on our treadmill at like level 4 on a 6.5% incline. And let me tell you that it kicked my ass! I was sweating like 2 minutes in, and I wanted to die. But, I finished a whopping 1 mile and I'm proud!
Starting off is always the hard part. Whether is quitting an addiction, becoming vegetarian (like me!), or getting your flabby booty off the couch and into those running shoes and walking a mile.
The first week or so are always the hardest. You have a craving for your downfall (i.e. cigarettes, alcohol, meat, or the couch). And your body goes through withdraws. But, I believe that if you can get passed those feelings of wanting to relapse into your old and damaging habits, then you can launch yourself into a new, uplifting, and healthy lifestyle!
Unfortunately, most of us will eventually falter. We will retreat back to comfort and something we were "happy" will, and think that because we have fallen, we can't get back up. To, that, I say that when you fall down 7 times, you stand up 8. There is no reason that we shouldn't give ourselves second, third, fourth, and fifth chances. We give other people those many chances when they've hurt us, but why do we think that we can't give ourselves those chances when WE falter in life? I, personally, think it's BS to stay down after falling. If we stayed down after our first fall when learning how to walk, we would be a bunch of adult babies crawling around because we were too scared to try again!
So whenever you mess up in life or relapse into your old ways, remember to give YOURSELF another chance to get it right. Stand back up and prove to yourself (because you have nothing to prove to anyone else) that you are worth the fight and the determination to get healthy.
Remember, you don't have to start off your first day doing CrossFit and running a 10k! I started with walking one mile. It's a mile I didn't walk yesterday, and it might be two miles I walk tomorrow.
Stay strong; remember that the first couple weeks of healthy living are the hardest, but know that you are worth every ounce of sweat and every sore muscle. YOU ARE WORTH IT!
XOXO
